Stop confusing Symbian OS with Series 60, because Sharp are not going to be using Series 60 anytime soon. They'll need an agreement with Nokia for that, and if the 903/703 was going to use Series 60 they would have made that agreement ages ago, and we would have heard about it. Sharp are using Symbian OS for FOMA handsets in order to cut down their development costs. This is because FOMA handsets only get sold to the one operator (NTT DoCoMo), so it's hard to make a return on them. This is compared to Vodafone phones which are sold in more than ten countries around the world, including Japan. It's the only reason. They're not interested in making smartphones and they're not interested in Series 60, else they would have done like Panasonic and released a phone ages ago. All current Sharp displays are CGS. The newer ones just have the Mobile-ASV technology added in on top of them Now, here's what I posted about the 903 in another thread: ------------------------------------- Sharp 903 is confirmed to have: * 3.2 MP camera with 2x optical zoom and AF * Stereo speakers on side of the flip (not the front like the 902) * Swivel flip * W-CDMA 2100/GSM 900/1800/1900 * Bluetooth (same profiles as 902) * NO external screen It is largely speculated to have a miniSD card slot instead of SD as in the 902, but this is not confirmed yet. -------------------------------------------- The 703SH will be a standard clamshell without a flip, with a 2" QVGA main display and small, vertical sub-display simliar to the GX25. It is also CONFIRMED to be using a miniSD card slot (hence the reason the 903SH is likely to use one too, but this is unconfirmed). Also rumoured to have a fixed focus (probably with macro switch) 1.3 megapixel camera. Before you ask, my sources are Vodafone/Sharp insiders on Japanese forums. Most people thought these phones would be announced already, but Vodafone JP's troubles with their current 3G lineup in Japan seem to be delaying their announcement. Most people expect these phones to show up late July, or more likely some time in August. By the way Xumdeo I think the camera module in the 903 will completely different to the SH901iS's one. The camera module in the 902 for example was sourced from Kyocera, compared to the Sharp in-house one used on the SH901iC. They just released a report on the SH901iS's camera abilities at itmedia.co.jp incidentally |
